Is 40% of mobile browsing to social networks ?

From Opera's first "State of the Mobile Web" report according only to Opera Mini users worldwide:

Social networking stands supreme
Almost 40% of traffic worldwide is to social networks. In some countries, such as the United States, South Africa and Indonesia, the social Web accounts for more than 60% of the traffic.

One Web will triumph over WAP content
Full Web surfing comprises more than 77% of all traffic. Content on WAP and .mobi sites accounted for 23% of mobile Web traffic. This share continues to decline as more consumers both use Opera Mini to access rich Web content and become more comfortable browsing the Web on their phones.

Full report is available from www.opera.com/mobile_report

The results of this report for sure indicate a trend, but are less completely accurate, considering that:

- the mobile browser Opera Mini is not the native browser of the majority of mobile phones

- only experienced users are able to download and install a mobile browser

- as the main advantage of Opera Mini is visible by surfing standard web sites, it is so expected to have more 'full web' than WAP &.mobi sites , see S60 Browser & Opera Mini In Harmony

=> There are always a lot of mobile users accessing the operator's mobile portal from the native mobile browser and this segment will take more time to use mobile web 2.0.
